I have often wondered why more people don’t take steps to improve the quality of their lives through self improvement. There seems to be some kind of stigma attached to the idea of self help, counselling or anything vaguely psychological and yet in other areas of our lives we don’t think twice about spending time and money, often for much less gain.
Some of the most popular excuses I come up against are
- I don’t have enough time / it’s a waste of time
- It’s too difficult / too complicated / too painful
- It’s only for sad people
- I’m an adult now, it’s too late
- I’m not crazy!
- I can’t be bothered
In my experience the real reason why people don’t invest more time in themselves is usually fear and excuses like the ones above are just masking the truth.
Sometimes people are afraid of what they’ll find if they dig too deeply, sometimes it’s just the fear of the unknown. More often than not, there is an issue involving self esteem whereby they don’t feel that they are worth the time and effort.
The great thing is, that all the excuses you give yourself are removable obstacles and with just a little effort on your part, you can make real, lasting changes to the quality of your life.

I hope you are having a productive one, I feel that I am today!
After much deliberation and lots of changes this week, I think I have decided on the title for the second volume of my new series of self improvement books, The Self Help Bible, and I am very excited.
Before I commit myself to print though I thought I’d ask you what you think, so if you have time in your busy Friday, I’d love to hear your views on what the title says to you. Does it sound interesting? What do you see in your mind’s eye when you read the title and how does it make you feel? Please leave your comments in the comment box below the post and if you can’t see the box, click the ‘comments’ bubble on the bar just above this post. You can comment directly through Facebook now too!
Ok so the title I have in mind is…..
How to Change the Life You Have For the Life You Want – Quickly and Easily
The book contains a number of simple exercises to help you regain control of your emotions and your life, to change the way you feel about incidents in the past that are still haunting you or holding you back and to change your perspective for a much more positive and empowering outlook on life. If followed they will give you a really great mindset for bringing about the kind of life you want and achieving success in any area you choose, so I thought the title kind of summed that up for me. What do you think.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments, I appreciate your help 🙂
Have a fantastic weekend,
thank you for stopping here today, I hope you will leave a comment before you go and find something of interest to you.
I still have lots of work to do on the site, but some times you just have to stop tinkering and get it out there don’t you. If I had applied the same logic to the books, I’d have published half a dozen by now!
It’s nice to start a new blog with some good news, so here you go;
Until the 29th of July, Lulu are offering 25% off of printed books on their site. All you have to do is enter the code TIMEUK305 at the checkout to receive the discount.
Obviously I think it would be a great idea if you used this discount your first purchase of The Self Help Bible Volume 1 – About Self Esteem and How to Be Confident but you can use it on any book on the site and save up to £400. So if you’ve been waiting to treat yourself, why not do it today?
If you are looking for a story, rather than a self development book, perhaps you’d prefer Damaged Goods by J Wolfendale
Either way, I hope you enjoy your choice and come back soon!
